"The right location" to get this shot would have been almost 23 miles from Manhattan. The moon subtends an angle of about ½ degree. The Chrysler building is the same size in the picture, and it's 1046 feet high. So the height of the Chrysler building divided by the distance to it is the tangent of 0.5 degrees, or 0.00873, which means the distance from the Chrysler Building at which you shot this image is 1046/.00873 = 119,879 feet = 22.7 miles.
Or maybe you photoshopped a bigger moon into the picture? Why not say so?
