I took this image off of the Blue Ridge Parkway in North Carolina right as the sun started to rise. I had left at 1 am to arrive at 5:30 just as the sun was rising. I shot this with a nikon D7000 using a Nikkor 70-200mm f2.8 Lens with no filters. I also used a Manfrotto BeFree tripod and a Nikon shutter release. The sunrise was very soft, there was a lot of cloud cover where the sun actually was (A storm was actually moving out). This shot is more at the side position to where the sun was.
