It started raining pretty heavy so I decided to head into the lower portions of the Smoky's and walk around the river. The diffuse light is just perfect for shots like this, all of the even light with a good polarizing filter. I found a nice spot on the Cherokee, NC side to pull over and put on some rain gear. As soon as got over to where I hiked I came across this spot, it was even 20 feet into my hike. Sometimes its just right in front of you. I had my Nikon D7000 set up with a rain jacket and on a tripod. I used a shutter release and a CPL filter with an ISO of 100.
