You don't need a big DSLR with a macro lens to make cool photos! This was shot with a Sony T100, a point & shoot camera smaller than a deck of cards. 1 / 200th, f/3.5, ISO 100, macro mode.
Unfortunately, this is not going to turn out well for this caterpillar: See those little white dots on him? Those are eggs from a Tachnid Fly. They are going to hatch and burrow into him. If you saw the movie "Alien," you know how this is going to turn out: They're going to eat him from the inside out.
