COMMENT: This image is a composite of two images, the mountains and the moon. I was visiting Switzerland to do some genealogy research when I decided to take a break and do some hiking on the mountains. As a base for my hiking, I choose Murren, one of Switzerland’s top ski resorts but which remains a small traffic-free village 5,400 feet up the slope of the 9,700 foot Schilithorn mountain. Having previously made the image of the supermoon from a location near my home in Williamsburg, Virginia, I immediately saw the opportunity to add the moon to an image of these majestic mountains. The mountain image was made from our hotel balcony in the late afternoon.
