The winter clouds and sun have to be at the right position/combination for this to work. I've ran out to the canyon over a dozen times after looking at the clouds' position early in the morning only to be foiled. This time it worked and only lasted about 5-7 min. I was slamming 4X5 holders in and out of the camera as fast as I could and came up with about 4-5 good images.
