Love attending this event every year. You never know what the weather over three days will hold. This year was historic and sad, the last year Colorado Springs Balloon Classic will be held there. Saturday was windy, and the pilots were not sure if/when they'd be able to inflate. Thankfully, the winds died down and over 50 balloons rose to fill the skies. Prospect Lake is at the edge of the balloon field, but the winds don't always take the balloons over the water. This was one of the best days for me, as so many balloons were lead over the water, with the purpose of skimming the lake (seeing how long the balloon can drag on the water). It takes tremendous skill and tons of experience to get these balloons low enough, and in the right place! Sunday, no balloons in the air, too windy. It seems luck was with me again!
