This photo was taken in Edwin Forsythe Wildlife Refuge in Smithsville, NJ. I observed this juvenile red-tailed hawk for quite a while in this location and couldn't figure out why he wouldn't move. Then finally he left his perched to descend on a raccoon carcass that must have been his kill earlier.
