A storm builds over the Owens Valley, CA. I liked this tree because it shows how resilient life is, even under adverse conditions. The wind on this plain of the Owens Valley can be fierce, in excess of 50 mph, which is shown in the shape of this tree and the one behind it. I'm not even sure if it's alive. But a second tree is growing from the base of this one, and it's shielded from the wind by first tree. I shot this in color but converted it to black and white in Aperture and added a red filter, then finished the adjustments in Lightroom.
