Cold Toes: During a familiar journey from Colorado to Taos, NM I saw the conditions were shaping up nicely for a spectacular sunset. I raced the setting sun to one of my favorite shooting spots just at the southern border of Colorado without adequate footwear. After a couple of hours in sub-zero temperatures, I was filled with gratitude for how the earth, light, and snow came together for several amazing shots. Cold Toes and all, it was totally worth it! Nikon D7000, AF-S Nikkor 24-70mm. Three bracketed images (ISO 100 f/6.3 1/80s, ISO 100 f/3.5 1/80s, ISO 100 f/2.8 1/80s) were initially processed in Camera Raw and Photoshop, then combined using HDR Efex Pro 2 and finally converted to black and white with Silver Efex Pro2.
