The Least Sandpiper (Calidris minutilla) is the smallest shorebird.
Usually it is preferred to see the bird's face in a photograph. I attempted to break the “rule” and show the preening behavior in a different but good way. In this photograph, the feather pattern on the head is clearly visible which is otherwise seldom seen.
