This shot was captured at mid-afternoon, knowing full well the sun is behind me providing a nice light coverage on El Capitan and the three brothers. My gear, I used a polarizer filter to reduce the reflection in the foreground allowing me to capture the beautiful textures on the rocks. The downside by doing this, the sky and El Cap became too bright, so I used an ND hard Grad to balance the exposure from the foreground and background. A shot like this can take me up to 30 minutes to setup looking at every detail on how the water flows, how much reflection to reduce, how the elements are placed to capture a shot that emotes what I see through the lens. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't but I keep trying.
