I was delighted to hear that it was going to rain in Yosemite so I hurried up again from the San Francisco Bay Area just before Thanksgiving. I captured this early night image while the afternoon storm was still clearing while lots of mist was still lifting and dissipating above El Capitan and Half Dome. There wasn't much light at dusk but I felt confident that with a long exposure I would be able to capture what was left based on my previous shooting of this beautiful National Park.
Camera and Exposure Info:
Canon 5D MK III camera, Canon f2.8 24-70mm II lens, Induro tripod with Really Right Stuff head.
I captured and used three exposures which consisted of ISO 400, 24mm, f20, and shutter speeds of 8, 15, 30 seconds.
I blended the three exposures in Photomatix and choose the Natural HDR setting. I then finished processing in Lightroom 5 by adjusting contrast and minimally increased some sharpening in the foreground.
