I love shooting weather phenomena. I call this one Yin and Yang, nature's wrath and beauty all in one single, non-composite shot, as the sun was setting in Prescott, AZ, and a rather sudden wild storm blew through. The setting sun illuminated the shelf cloud to an almost golden hue. It started as such a strange, small, isolated storm cell that at first, all I saw was one small thunderhead and some lightning. I didn't know exactly which path the cloud was going to take, but I had been wishing for years for a shot not even as dramatic as this, at this very location, but thought that monsoon storm season in Arizona was over for the year, as it was already October. I was so thrilled to have been at the right place at the right time, and just in the nick of time! I used a polarizer and my smallest aperture possible to extend the shutter speed to luckily capture lightning with the rainbow. Nikon D810. 44mm focal length. f/22. 1/8 second.
