This young Red Bellied Woodpecker is preparing to leave the nest and appears to be assessing the situation. I've been watching the male and female parents throughout their tenure with this nest and it was exciting to see the young ones working up the courage to fly for the first time. I used a Nikon D810 with a 300mm f2.8 with a 1.7 TC.
