Some people would consider this a long exposure. Yes, it did require a tripod, but 1/2 a second isn't a long exposure. 1/2 a second is a moment in time. When photographing waterfalls, time slows. It makes me, in turn, slow down and think about my surroundings. Right now during the spring thaw in New England, the waterfalls are ripping, making a hypnotic sound, spraying mist high in the air. I bound from rock to rock vantage point to vantage point. It's a dance. One I'll gladly repeat many times.
