These beautiful wild ponies are some of the last on the east coast. Grayson Highlands is well known for the wild ponies, but what really stands out to myself and a lot of other hikers I have talked to are their long, lush manes. To me, they are the Mariah Carey of ponies (My wife came up with that while we were out photographing them). They couldn't be placed in a more stunning setting as well. Grayson Highlands offers dramatic views through Virginia and is considered to be one of the most beautiful places along the Appalachian Trail, many hikers refer to the ponies as a highlight from their adventure. They are just that, wild, graceful and a very unique surprise to many who come across them.
