I had envisioned this shot while on a day hike to Glen Aulin, in Yosemite's high country two years ago. This summer, I checked the Photographer's Ephemeris and saw that the Milky Way would be in the right position on a moonless night in early August and made plans for an overnight hike to White Cascade (Glen Aulin High Sierra Camp). Everything lined up as I'd hoped. I tried the shot many ways, with and without light painting the falls, vertical, horizontal, panorama. I was quite happy with the results.
Nikon D500, Tokina 11-16, f2.8, ISO 6400, 20 seconds

What a great capture! That is what photography is all about envisioning an image then composing it and creating that piece of art! Great Shot!
