This photo of a penguin colony (also called a “rookery”, or a “waddle”) was taken at Fortuna Bay, South Georgia Island. The island is the home of at least 300,000 King Penguins and is the location of the grave of Antarctic explorer Ernest Shackleton. A Nikon D300 with a Nikkor 70-300 mm VR lens at 300 mm were used. The exposure (hand held) was f/8 and 1/320 sec.
