The lava lake at Halema'uma'u was pretty far below the rim of the crater but the orange mood lighting provided by Tutu Pele was nonetheless magical. Add to that the summer Milky Way arching across the midnight sky and you feel like you're on a completely different planet. The glow from the recent breakout flows at Pu'u O'o are also visible just to the left.
21 frame panorama. Nikon D810a, Zeiss Milvus 21mm lens, f/2.8, 13 seconds each frame, ISO 6400.
