Something about this scene suggested that it would look good in black and white. The original color photo was taken on an open plain in Kafue National Park, Zambia, with a Nikon D600 and a Nikkor 80-400 mm VR lens at 400 mm. The exposure was f/8 and 1/500 sec (hand-held at ISO 800). The animals were more than 100 feet away; the image shown is about a 1/3 crop of the original frame.
