Most of Texas State Parks have FABULOUS bird blinds. Sometimes unexpected birds gather there.... no, not the rare type (although that happens sometimes)... instead the BIG BOYS show up! Namely Wild Turkeys!! I found a flock of young females who came for a big drink of water... the elixir of life... at beautiful Palo Duro Canyon State park. Because I was behind a blind, it was a great opportunity to zoom in on DETAILS! Not only are their feathers very iridescent, but they are layers and layer and LAYERS of curves that manage to round out and plump up the whole bird. And, of course, weirdly, each feather is made of strait slim shafts, grown perfectly to make those curves! Nature, the most creative artist around. Nikon D7200, 1/3200 at F6.3 ISO 500, Sigma 150-600
