You are here
The Appalachian Trail goes from Springer Mountain in Georgia to Katahdin in Maine. Along the entire way you submerged into the Appalachian Mountains and to me they are some of the most beautiful. One of my favorite spots is Jane Bald along the Roan Highlands just out of Carvers Gap. The sunrises here are really hard to beat. Jane Bald offers 360 degree views of what seems like an endless sea of mountains.
For this image I got up at 3:30 a.m. and headed out to the A.T. for an early morning hike. I made my way along the bald until I got to a place I wanted to set up. I used a CPL filter to help ad some contrast. I took this just before the sun came up. This panoramic image was created by shooting 3 separate frames simultaneously and later merged together in Lightroom.
