In the early 70s there were four Sugar Mills operating along the Hilo Coast of Hawaii Island (Big Island). Milling operations were consolidated at a newly constructed central factory in the mid 70s, Hilo Coast Processing Co., Pepeekeo, Hi. “Hilo Coast” ceased operations in 1996, ending all sugar production on the Island. This Mill was at Papaikou, HI.
