The February day started beautifully in the Seattle area, but unstable air caused storm cells to start building in the afternoon. From downtown Seattle I could tell there was a large cloud sitting just east of the city. So I bought a ticket on the Washington state Ferry headed west to Bainbridge Island, to get far enough away from the city to capture the skyline and the clouds. As the ferry pulled away I was astounded by how large the clouds were and how dark the sky beneath was. But the sun was still shining on the skyline, providing great contrast of the buildings against the dark sky.
Shot with Nikon D750 and Nikon 70-300mm lens at 70mm, f/13, 1/320 sec, ISO 400. (I have to shoot handheld on the ferry because the deck vibrates too much for tripod use!)
