These lovely Southern Oaks can be found in The Battery, at the southern tip of Charleston's Old Town. The sun had just risen, and cast an intense beam parallel to the ground. What struck me was those large limbs parallel to the ground all aligned. I wondered how they managed to stay put and not simply break off under their own weight. It is the geometry of the scene that proved paramount to me.
