Meet Solomon the resident Golden Eagle at Sulphur Creek Nature Center in Hayward, CA. Solomon came to Sulphur Creek Nature Center because he had injured his left wing on a wind turbine blade and had to have his wing amputated at the elbow. Thus he could not be released back to the wild. As a volunteer at Sulphur Creek, one of my duties is to go into the cages of our resident birds and remove uneaten food and wash out their water bowls. I occasionally bring my camera in with me to get an unclose and personal photo. I'm not quite sure what Solomon is thinking of me in this photo!
