We often rise well before dawn to trek out to Malibu Creek State Park and hike in for sunrise. I can't count how many times we've been there to shoot, but each day is different. Rain or drought, fog or sun, wildflowers or grasslands, parrots or egrets, the park is a visual cornucopia for a photographer. This morning the groundfog filled canyons around us, but stayed out of the meadow, which gave this tree separation from the surrounding hills and enough clarity to capture a sunstar in the middle of the tree. We stayed around for another couple of hours, photographing the creek and wildlife, but this is the photo that tells the story of the morning for me. This was photographed using a Nikon D600 with a 16-35 Nikkor zoom lens at 16mm, f22 at 1/90s, and processed in Adobe Lightroom.
