On Valentine's Day a couple of years ago, I was stranded at the nature center of a local Metro Park by a nasty snowstorm. The road out was impassable until a plow could come through. So I walked around the nature center looking for something to shoot when I came across a Cooper's Hawk sitting in a bush right next to me at eye level. He had obviously eaten recently, and looked to be trying to hide from the snow. He allowed me to get pretty close and take his picture without even flinching.
