The beautiful landscaping around this house competed with the flag in the original color version of this image. But a straight B&W conversion didn't give me the feeling I wanted either. Experimenting, I first used Photoshop CS5 to adjust contrast and saturation. I then added a slight blur layer and converted to B&W using OnOne Software Perfect B&W. I then used Photoshop to bring back the color and remove the blur from the flag.
Camera: Canon 20D with Canon 28-105mm lens at 38mm. f/5 at 1/100 with ISO 200.
