Sunrise at Shafer Overlook, Canyonlands National Park. The forecast the night before was for clear skies so I got a late start, not expecting much. As I drove into Canyonlands the dawn started to light up and I saw a LOT of high clouds. I kicked myself for being so unprepared and drove to the first overlook, which I'd never been to before. I stood at the edge of this rock taking shot after shot, but what I really wanted was to convey what it felt like to stand over this vastness. I decided to include the foreground rock that I was standing on because it gave the feeling that you could just step off and fly across the canyon. Settings: f10, .3 sec, 16mm, ISO 100.
