An overcast September day at Kensington Park in SE Michigan introduced me to Sandhill Cranes that are comfortable with humans. As I was leaving the park, I pull off the road when I saw a pair of cranes foraging in the ground between me and the lake. With the crane in shadow and the brightness of the sky reflected in the lake, it only took a bit of highlight adjustment and a highlight vignette to render this profile.
Nikon D800, Nikon 200-500mm @ 500mm, 1/320 s, f/9, ISO 1600. Lens supported on car window.
