A Common Loon takes off from a northwoods Wisconsin lake. Loons need a running start across the water to get airborne. Backlighting on this bird emphasizes the splash and spray created by this technique.
Image made with Canon 7D mark2 and Tamron 150-600 F5-6.3 VC lens at 552 mm. Exposure was
1/320 second @ F 8.0, ISO 800.
