The Roatán Spiny-tailed Iguana (Black Iguana) is native to and only appears on the island of Roatán in the Bay Islands of Honduras. The species is listed as endangered on the International Union for Conservation of Nature and Natural Resources (IUCN)- Red List of Threatened Species.
Protection efforts are in progress and many of the black iguanas that I saw were marked with paint and tags though this one was not.
