The unusual reflection of the marsh plants and the Great Blue Heron in the photo is a result of part ice and part water covering the marsh. The photo was taken hand held with a Nikon D850 camera, Nikkor 200-500mm f/5.6 lens. I wanted to take the shot at a focal length of 500mm but zoomed out to 310mm because the field of view was so small at 500mm that it was difficult to find the bird through the lens before it had flown quite a distance away. The camera was set to continuous focus and shutter, 1/2000 sec., f/5.6, 310mm, ISO 2200.
