Launch Complex 14 at Cape Canaveral as it looks today. This is the pad where the four orbital flights of Project Mercury launched astronauts Glenn, Carpenter, Schirra, and Cooper into orbit. Today, the pad is held up by crutches (blue steel beams) to keep it from completely falling into rubble from the decades of exposure to weather and the extreme salt air environment.
