An interesting bird. We have several large Ponderosa Trees on our property and every spring we get numbers of Red Crossbills visiting to pry open the pine cones for the seeds inside. Great fun to photograph. Camera was a Canon 5D Mk III with the Canon 500mm f4 lens on a tripod. Settings for this photo as follows. Aperture was 5.6, speed was 1/640 sec and ISO was at 400.
