This infrared image was made by Gary Larsen in southern Colorado. It's an homage to old B&W movies with trains traveling the Old West.
It was done with a Nikon D300 converted to IR. The lens was a Nikkor 18-55mm @ 25mm (~37mm), and the exposure was at ISO 400, f/11 and 1/400 second with no filters. The post-processing was done in Photoshop CS5 using Curves and adding uniform, monochromatic noise before some final sharpening. Photoframe 4.5 was used to add a soft, dark frame.
