Racing the storm
Ansel Adams spoke of the importance of pre-visualization in the process of "creating" a photograph versus "grabbing" a snapshot (ie. a purely documentary exercise). This photo is a combination of an image I carried in my head for years and the opportunity that presented itself at a local rodeo. From its beginning in my imagination to the capture in camera and finally to the fully realized photograph the creative process came full circle.
Shot with a Nikon D800E and a Nikon 200-400 mm f.4 lens on a Gitzo tripod. ISO 320, f4.5, 1/1000 sec.
A raw file processed in Photoshop CS6 and converted to B&W in NIK Silver Effects Pro.
