This image was captured using a Hasselblad 503 CW camera, 120 mm lens and an extension tube and Fujifilm Velvia. The exposure determined using a Minolta VI incident meter with the f/stop set at 16. The image was converted to a digital image using a Epson V750 scanner and Nik Silver Efex software. I prefer this black and white rendition of the blossom which is far more dramatic in presenting the flower than the color image. The background where the iris was grown was cluttered and thus a black velvet cloth was draped over the bushes behind the flower. A light rain had just stopped and the sun popped out. Fortunately, the blossom was in the shade of a school building where the iris bed was found.
