Taken in the desert this April with my Sony 6300 and Tamron 18-200 lens at 75mm. F 5.6 1/350 ISO 200. This spring was an explosion of red in the desert. Usually you might see 5-6 blooms, but this year the cactii were covered. It's hard to take pictures of cactus because they don't open until the sun is fully up and close in the evening. Some varieties bloom for only one day! I prowled the countryside for days watching blooms develop and was delighted to see this group.
