In the early Twentieth Century, a brick factory stood outside of Athens, Georgia supplying bricks for many of the town's buildings. The property was eventually abandoned and in 1972 citizens of Athens bought the land to establish the Sandy Creek Nature Center. The pit that furnished famous red Georgia clay became a pond. Some of the ruins of the factory were left in place and are now reclaimed by nature. To me this image of the old brick oven suggests a portal to another time. This photo was taken in 2016 with Canon EOS Rebel T3i EF-S 18-55mm lens at 34mm, ISO 100, F16. This photo is a combination of three timed exposures of 0.3, 1/5 and 0.5.
