This shot was a combination of planning and incredible luck. This osprey has made his nest in the same spot for 4 years and I often photograph him. I decided to stop by the nest one morning to see if there was any action and I found him sitting on a power line with a fish. In that his nest was adjacent, and his mate was sitting in the nest, I readied my camera for an action shot hoping he would fly. He complied and I started firing. I also shot a sequence of him flying to the nest and sharing his catch with his mate. Needless to say, I almost fell off my chair when I was uploading the morning's shoot and this beauty came by. Just last week, I returned and got a shot of his 4, curious off-spring looking over the nest.
