Many Mongolians lead nomadic lives. They graze livestock until local grass runs out, then move to a new location for better grazing. They live in round gers that can be quickly disassembled and re-erected. Some, such as the gers in this image, are powered by solar electricity. In central Mongolia nomadic families raise yaks, goats, horses, and sheep (all of which are found in this scene) as well as cattle. Central Mongolia includes verdant grasslands among forested mountains.
