This is an older photo that I took in 2008 and that I have never quite been able to replicate since. Sometimes you get lucky enough to witness that perfect just-right combination of lighting, timing, and other natural elements. I was shooting into the cotton-laced tree limbs, backlit by the sun, just trying to illuminate the fuzzy coating until it looked almost wet, in my mind, like melting ice dripping down. The sun created its own starburst and illuminated bokeh. Each year, I have gone back during the spring when the cottonwoods shed their fluff, and, although the same trees are there, I have never found this view ever again. Maybe the fluff wasn't as abundant or didn't stick to the branches the same, or maybe the trees had more foliage than that particular year. I am not quite certain. But I apologize about the older technology/quality. This was shot with a Nikon 8800 at ISO 50, f/7.4, 1/320 seconds, 89mm. By Theresa Rose Ditson, in Prescott, AZ.
