My wife, Rayleen, and I planned a summer trip to Mono Lake. We had seen the other worldly qualities of the Tufa columns, but never realized how dramatic they could be to be seen. Some rise over 30 feet. They're towering, majestic and impressive. This was a particular outcropping that caught my eye. We did not have the best sun, as it was around noon. But with a little fixing in Photoshop and a lot of time spent setting up, I think this photo turned out pretty good. Canon 5D Marl IV, 24-70mm II zoom lens, at 125th at f/11, ISO 100, 24mm.
