Mirror Lake is only a shadow of what it had been in the 1950's and 1960's. If you go there in the summer it's mostly just beach with a trickle of water in Tenaya Creek flowing through. However, in mid winter (assuming we've had any rain or snowfall) you can still enjoy the "mirror" qualities from which it gets its name.
This shot was taken in February on a clear afternoon with no wind to ruffle the surface of the water. I deliberately split the image 50/50 between the real and reflected to enhance the sense of symmetry between the crystal clear reflection in the lower half and the granite mountains and deep blue sky in the upper half.
