after it was only a matter of days until the lava from Hawai;i's active Pu'u O'o Eastern Rift Zone would enter the ocean again, I decided to do a last minute trip to the Big Island. The timing was perfect, lava entered the ocean just days later at the Kamokuna Ocean Entry site. I hiked out almost every night and one morning I went with a boat tour operator out to the flow. The different perspective opened new picture opportunities to me and in this shot the early morning light was hitting the lava entering the ocean.
