On this morning when I arrived at the arch just before sunrise there was already a line, 2 deep of people waiting for the sun to rise with DSLR's to cell phones. I set up in a little gap and as people got their shot, I continued to move to better locations until I found the composition I wanted. Then with most of the others gone the magic started to happen and I was fortunate enough to catch the sun in just the right position.

The shot was taken with a Canon T3i, an EF-S 15-85MM 3.5-5.6 IS USM lens, at 15mm, F16, ISO100, 1/30 second.
