Here in Arizona we have a monsoon season during the summer and these storms sometimes show up quickly without much warning in the late afternoon or evening. After my husband noticed there was a significant amount of lightning coming from the east and checking radar with the Weather Channel, I set out to a spot near our Superstitions Mountains that would put me in front of the storm and let it move towards me. When I got out there and set up, I realized the storm was actually two storms that would end up almost splitting and moving around me. It was hard for me to decide which direction to set up because there was lightning all around me in about a 180 view. So I just spent a little time in each direction and then would rotate directions. This shot I caught was a good representation of much of what I saw that evening. The storm was pouring streams of rain as it quickly moved and lightning strikes were occurring about every 10-15 seconds.
